Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators in Russian army units put hand warmers in thermal bags in cold weather to extend the life of batteries in drone joysticks, according to a UAV operator with the call sign Maloy.
To prevent batteries from draining too quickly in the cold, we put hand warmers in thermal bags together with the batteries. This reduces their power consumption and allows them to cover a much greater distance.
Another drone operator with the call sign Litvin added that on average, a UAV flight takes seven minutes, and after dropping ammunition on a target, a planned control flight is performed.
