Rosoboronexport: India to 100% Localize Production of AK-203

India plans to fully localize the production of Russian AK-203 assault rifles. This was announced by Alexander Mikheev, General Director of Rosoboronexport.

According to him, over the decades, the countries have implemented various forms of cooperation, from the production of products in India under a Russian license to joint development and production.

India is moving towards 100% localization of the production of Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles at national facilities.

The AK-203 is a modification of the AK-200 for a 7.62 by 39 mm caliber cartridge. In 2023, the joint venture Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited launched the production of AKs in India. The AK of the “two hundredth series” is equipped with a pistol grip, universal rails for attaching accessories, and an adjustable buttstock.
