Roskomnadzor (RKN) reported that 200 notifications of personal data breaches were recorded last year. This is 180 cases less than in the year before last.
Most often, the data of Russians leaked in companies operating in the field of trade and services. For comparison, in 2023, the leaders were organizations from the fields of insurance, medicine, trade and education.
Last year, President Vladimir Putin signed laws tightening responsibility for personal data leaks. Fines now depend on the volume of the leak, and the maximum penalty for legal entities is 15 million rubles.
Criminal liability is also provided for the illegal use of personal data: forced labor or imprisonment for up to four years.
