The construction of the largest yacht marina is planned in Kazan, on the Lokomotiv Peninsula. It will include 700 berths and an Extreme Water Sports Center. This was announced by the Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, presenting the concept of the new water cluster.
The design of the first river cluster in Russia and one of the largest in Europe is being carried out as part of the President's instructions on the development of the Unified Deep Water System of the Russian Federation. The new water hub of the Volga region will give a powerful impetus to the development of both the city of Kazan itself and the neighboring cities of the Volga region.
The total area of transformation is 65 hectares. Piers, shipyards for ship repair, a terminal for river passenger transport and an information center will be created on the peninsula. The cluster will be connected to the historical center of the city by pedestrian routes.
It is planned to equip recreation areas, stands for watching water competitions, beach areas and parking lots along the embankment. The project also includes the construction of the largest Extreme Water Sports Center in Europe with an area of 5.5 thousand square meters with an all-season artificial wave.
The first stage involves the creation of about 450 berths for small and medium-sized vessels with a length of 4 to 30 meters. By 2034, the total number of berths should reach 700.
