Почти на полную: на Солнце произошла вспышка, близкая к максимальному классу Х

This is the second strongest solar event in February 2025

On February 6, scientists recorded a powerful flare on the Sun, close in strength to class X.

According to the Institute of Applied Geophysics, the M7.6 level flare was recorded at 14:04 Moscow time in spot group 3981 (N05W16). It lasted 35-37 minutes.

According to information from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI RAS and ISZF SB RAS, this is the second strongest event of February 2025. The most powerful flare of the month – M8.8 – occurred on February 3.

Spot group 3981 is the largest on the side of the Sun facing the Earth. Since the flare occurred in the area of maximum impact on our planet, there is a high probability of its impact on the planet.

Solar flares are powerful bursts of energy, accompanied by X-ray and ultraviolet radiation. Depending on the power of X-ray radiation, flares are divided into five classes: A, B, C, M and X.

They can lead to the release of coronal mass, which provokes magnetic storms on Earth. The level of magnetic storms is classified from G1 (weak) to G5 (extremely strong).

Earlier, www1.ru reported that 4 powerful flares occurred on the Sun on Tuesday.
