Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers performed a scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas, accompanied by crews of MiG-31 and Su-33 aircraft. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The flight lasted more than 4 hours. Fighter escort was provided by crews of MiG-31 aircraft of the Aerospace Forces and Su-33 aircraft of the Navy.
In certain sections of the route, Russian military aircraft were accompanied by foreign fighters.
The Ministry of Defense added that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, Baltic and Black Seas. All flights are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.
