The physical start-up of the second nuclear reactor has been carried out on the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser (TARKR) "Admiral Nakhimov" of project 11442M. The first reactor began operating in December 2024.
The sequential physical start-up of the cruiser's two reactors demonstrated the readiness of the ship's entire nuclear power plant for operation in all modes. Currently, the TARKR is at the wall of "Sevmash" United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).
The cruiser's sea trials will begin in the summer of 2025.
The cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" has been under repair since 1999. The main result of the cruiser's modernization will be the strengthening of its strike power. It is expected that the ship will carry Kalibr-NK or Onyx cruise missiles, as well as Zircon hypersonic missiles.
