The expected increase in the number of locusts in 17 Russian regions in the summer of 2025 will be contained, including through the use of aviation. This was reported by the Russian Agricultural Center.
The main danger is the multi-stage development of locusts, which requires timely containment measures. In some regions, farmers are monitoring the situation around the clock, and in case of emergency, aviation and ground equipment will be used to spray insecticides.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia clarified that for 2025, there is a reserve of the insecticide "Imidor" in the amount of 8.3 tons to eliminate emergencies, which will allow treating 110 thousand hectares. Surveys of the pest population are being carried out, including accounting for the overwintering stock, monitoring larvae and localizing adults.
