Металлоконструкции в жилищном строительстве помогут стимулировать рынок стали в России

By 2035, the share of steel structures in construction may grow to 7%

Expanding the use of steel structures in housing construction could be an important factor in stimulating demand for steel in Russia, where consumption of this material is currently declining.

Currently, steel structures are mainly used for the construction of industrial facilities. The share of construction in steel consumption in Russia is more than 50%.

As of 2024, steel production in the country decreased by 7% to 70.7 million tons, while steel consumption in construction is estimated at 40 million tons. Of this volume, the consumption of steel structures is approximately 1.8-3 million tons.

The growth in demand for steel structures may be due to several factors, including labor shortages, the need for faster and more efficient ways to implement construction projects, and the growth of individual housing construction.

It is projected that by 2035, the share of steel structures in construction may increase to 4-7%, which will provide an increase in domestic demand for metal by 1 million tons per year. However, this will require the creation of a new regulatory framework that would promote the widespread use of steel structures in residential buildings.
