A number of military airfields of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have begun to actively build powerful arched fortifications to cover tactical aviation and engineering and aviation service personnel. This was announced by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
According to him, the shelters will protect equipment from M74APAM submunitions of ATACMS Block I tactical missiles and from the fragmentation effects of kamikaze drones, such as Lyuty, Palianytsia, Bober, A-22 and others.
He called the only task equipping the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) with universal low-altitude detection towers for the placement of 92N6 RPN radars.
Damantsev clarified that this measure is necessary to block the flight paths of SCALP-EG missiles with shaped-charge penetrating high-explosive warheads, which pose a threat to arched structures at airfields.
