Scientists have recorded a series of seven solar flares of varying intensity classes. This was reported by the press service of the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FSBI "IPG").
On January 31, at 09:10 Moscow time, an M1.0 flare lasting 32 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in group of spots 3976 (N11E41).
According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS and ISZF SB RAS, six more class C flares occurred on January 31. The first class C4.1 flare was recorded at 00:25 Moscow time.
Solar flares are classified into five classes depending on the power of X-ray radiation: A, B, C, M, and X. The minimum class A0.0 corresponds to a radiation power at the Earth's orbit of 10 nanowatts per square meter, and with the transition to the next class, the power increases by a factor of 10.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that scientists recorded a powerful flare on the Sun.
