Russian military personnel have adapted a YakB-12.7 quad-barrel helicopter machine gun onto a pickup truck to combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The weapon was modernized with the installation of a collimator and a night sight, which transmits the image to a monitor.
The YakB-12.7 machine gun was installed on Mi-24D, Mi-24V, and Mi-25 combat helicopters. Its weight is 45 kg, but this does not cause inconvenience for the operator when installed on vehicles.
Mainly, the military uses the ground version of the YakB-12.7 to destroy heavy hexacopters of the "Baba Yaga" type.
YakB-12.7 Characteristics:
- Rate of fire — 4000-4500 rounds/min
- Barrel length — 970 mm
- Overall length — 1345 mm
- Sighting range — 1500 m
- Initial velocity of a 12.7-mm bullet — 810 m/sec
