Batteries of man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) "Verba" and anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) "Tor-M2" on low-altitude interception towers are capable of completely solving the issue of protecting factories and strategically important facilities from jet and gasoline kamikaze drones. This opinion was expressed by military expert Evgeny Damanцев.
The analyst noted that Verba crews can receive target designation for drones approaching strategically important facilities from 1L122-E1 or Repeinik surveillance radar stations (RLS) located on the roofs of high-rise structures.
For example, 15 - 20 trained Verba MANPADS crews, as well as a pair of Tor-M2 SAMs on towers, will be quite enough to repel an attack by more than 30 drones.
The expert added that less priority objects can be covered by six Strela-10M3 SAM installations, as well as 10 - 15 machine gun systems based on Tula YakB-12.7 and GShG-7.62 machine guns.
The crew of the standard modification of the Tor-M2 intercepts a wide range of optical-electronic reconnaissance drones using 9M331D anti-aircraft guided missiles with radio command guidance.
Characteristics of the Tor-M2 SAM:
- Range of destruction - 16 km
- Altitude of destruction - up to 10 km
- Maximum speed of targets hit - 1000 m/s
- Number of simultaneously tracked targets - 48
- Number of simultaneously engaged targets - 4
The Verba complex is successfully used by air defense units of the Ground Forces and Airborne Forces. MANPADS provides destruction of combat helicopters, tactical aviation aircraft and tactical unmanned aerial vehicles.
Main characteristics of the Verba MANPADS:
- Range of destruction - from 500 to 6000 m
- Altitude of targets hit - from 10 to 3500 m
- Speed of targets hit on overtaking courses - up to 400 m/s, on head-on courses - up to 320 m/s
- Time to transfer from stowed to combat position - no more than 12 s
- Time to launch readiness from the moment of activation - no more than 5 s
- Type of homing head - passive, thermal, three-spectral
