The Kaliningrad-based Avtotor plant will continue its cooperation with the BAIC, Kaiyi, Forthing, and SWM brands, despite their low popularity in the Russian market.
The main reason for the low sales is the short history of these brands' presence in Russia: only 1-1.5 years. The plant believes that this time is not enough to assess long-term prospects, especially in an unstable market.
Avtotor started contract manufacturing of these brands' cars in 2023 and plans not only to expand the model range but also to develop a localization program. At the same time, the company admits that the presence of local production does not guarantee the brand's success.
Earlier, www1.rureported that the largest car dealer in Russia, Rolf, will terminate cooperation with three brands: Kaiyi, BAIC, and Sollers.
