Сбербанк, Альфа-банк и Т-Банк хотят запустить платный QR-роуминг

Консорциум трёх российских банков планирует создать платформу для платежей через QR-роуминг

Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, and T-Bank, in collaboration with the National Payment Card System, intend to introduce paid QR roaming. The banking consortium will create an interconnected platform. It will allow clients of various credit organizations to make payments via QR codes without additional difficulties.

Users will be able to simply scan a QR code in a store, and all internal calculations will remain outside their attention. Experts are confident that this is technically feasible if legislation allows multiple operators of a universal QR code to exist in the market.

At a meeting with journalists, representatives of the consortium spoke about the possibility of reading QR codes issued by other banks using their applications. This will allow customers to easily use QR codes, even if they do not use the services of partner banks. In the event of successful platform pairing, credit organizations will be able to redirect clients to each other, and a fee will be charged for this.

Representatives of the consortium are confident that platform integration is possible. This will avoid confusion with QR codes for users. Experts note that there may not be so many operators of a universal QR code on the market, and only large banks, such as Sberbank, will be able to afford such costs.

Despite the growing interest in QR payments, their market share remains small. According to the Bank of Russia, in 2024, the volume of payments via QR codes may reach about 10 trillion rubles, which is only 15% of the total volume of payments. Experts believe that in the next three years, QR payments will not be able to occupy more than 15% of the market.
