Russian military personnel have upgraded the 7.62-mm Kalashnikov tank modernized machine gun (PKMT) with an electromechanical reloading mechanism. Thus, the soldiers solved the problem of installing the weapon on remote combat modules, the Telegram channel "Military Informant" reported.
The PKTM is not equipped with its own sighting devices; aiming is carried out using the mechanisms and sights of combat vehicles.
For installation on remote machine gun modules, the military has developed an electromechanical reloading mechanism that allows the PKTM to be used as part of combat remotely controlled systems.
The PKTM features a massive barrel, which allows for more intense fire, as well as an improved gas regulator.
The machine gun is equipped with an electric trigger for remote firing control; it has no buttstock or pistol grip.
Main characteristics of the Kalashnikov tank machine gun:
- Caliber — 7.62 mm
- Cartridge type — 7.62x54
- Weight — 10.5 kg
- Rate of fire — 700–800 rounds/min
- Belt capacity — 250 rounds
- Initial bullet velocity — 850 m/s
- Sighting range — 1500 m
