Ural Chemical Engineering Plant (Uralhimmash) has shipped sets of hydro tanks for the passive core flooding system. They will be installed at the third power unit of the Akkuyu NPP under construction in Turkey, the company's press service reported.
The volume of one hydro tank is 120 m³. The delivery includes 12 sets of equipment with a total weight of over 740 tons.
Hydro tanks of the passive core flooding system are essential elements of the nuclear power plant safety system. In the event of an accident, the hydro tanks automatically supply a solution of boric acid to cool the reactor core.
Uralhimmash has been supplying products for the Akkuyu NPP since 2020. Under the contract, the plant has shipped 36 sets of hydro tanks.
