В Новосибирске разработали стройматериал на основе переработанных полимерных отходов

The new material is planned to be used for wall cladding

A composite building material made from recycled plastic bottles has been created at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU). This was reported by the university's press service.

We recycled high-density polyethylene—mainly bottles from household chemicals. We had a composite of three materials: polyethylene (used as a binder), sawdust (to reduce thermal conductivity and the possibility of obtaining thermal insulation materials), and cullet of various fractions (there is also a lot of glass in solid household waste now).
Natalia Osipova, developer

A special cutting mill was used to grind the plastic bottles. The selected plastic fractions were subjected to hot pressing.

The resulting material was tested for density, strength, thermal conductivity, and water absorption. The results showed that it can be used in wall cladding.

According to Natalia Osipova, plastic waste can be used to create insulation, panels, road surfaces, and other building materials. The use of polymers reduces production costs and solves environmental problems.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that an expensive anhydrite from waste was created in Moscow.
