A public electronic registry of foreigners illegally residing in Russia will begin operating on February 5. From the moment of launch, the registry will be updated daily, which will ensure the data is current.
The new registry will be available to employers, private entrepreneurs, and Russian citizens planning to enter into labor agreements with foreigners. They will be able to check online whether a foreign person is legally present in Russia, and only then will they be able to enter into a labor agreement with them.
Foreigners illegally present in the Russian Federation will not have access to certain public services. This includes marriage registration and divorce, banking services, as well as vehicle management and registration, and the purchase of airline and train tickets. These measures will help make the stay of foreign citizens in the country more transparent.
Technically, the portal with the registry is already ready for launch, and its filling with the necessary data is currently underway.
