Scientists at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) and the Federal Research Center "Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center SB RAS" have created reagents to combat oil spills in water. The development is capable of reducing the area of pollution by 89–93% in just one minute.
The reagents have demonstrated high efficiency both at room temperature and in low-temperature conditions. Scientists suggest that this agent can also be used to eliminate the consequences of fuel oil pollution in the Black Sea.
In the event of a fuel oil spill in the Black Sea, even if it partially settles or is collected by mechanical methods, a thin "oil" film of lighter components of fuel oil will remain on the surface of the water. We can help precisely at this stage, when the "oil" film is so thin that it cannot be eliminated by other methods.
The situation with the environmental consequences of the Volgoneft oil tanker crash in the Kerch Strait remains critical. A month has already passed, but the consequences of the spill have not yet been eliminated.
