Ministry of Digital Development to Bring Internet to Small Russian Settlements in 2025

The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation (Mintsifry of Russia) has summarized the results of the vote in which Russians chose villages to connect to mobile Internet. In 2025, communication will be provided to 1,600 small settlements.

The voting took place from August 5 to November 17, 2024, and gathered more than 717 thousand participants. Adult Russians, except residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg, could vote both by mail and through the State Services portal.

The most votes were received by: the village of Lipniki from the Krasnodar Territory, the village of Cheporovo in the Yaroslavl Region, the village of Yunkur in Yakutia, the village of Stolbishchi in the Yaroslavl Region, and the village of Chernevo in the Vologda Region.

Voting for connecting small settlements to the Internet has been held since 2021. During this time, communication has been provided in more than 5,500 villages and settlements. The Ministry of Digital Development noted that work on installing base stations in small settlements will continue. By 2030, communication should be available in all settlements with a population of 100 to 500 people.
