The newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda has removed information about the use of the Kinzhal hypersonic missile by the Su-34 front-line fighter-bomber from its publication about test pilot Maxim Safonov.
During the preparation of the material, the author made a gross error, using unverified information published on a third-party Internet resource, about the alleged combat use of the Kinzhal hypersonic missile by the Su-34 aircraft crew. The necessary changes have been made to the publication. The editors apologize to their readers.
The author of the Telegram channel Fighterbomber also drew attention to the incompatibility of the Su-34 with the Kinzhal complex.
No one has ever even tried to launch Kinzhals from a Su-34 fighter, since the Su-34's speeds are relatively low, despite all its splendor. Kinzhals, as before, are launched only from MiG-31I(K).
The MiG-31 supersonic interceptor is capable of climbing to 22 km and accelerating to Mach 2.8, giving the Kinzhal the necessary starting speed for an effective launch.
The Kinzhal is an air-launched missile system with a combat hypersonic aeroballistic missile. The speed of the Kinzhal is 10 times the speed of sound, and the range is more than 2,000 km.
