Vietnam presented the XCB-01 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) at the international defense exhibition Vietnam Defense Exhibition 2024 in Hanoi. It turned out to be a modernized version of the Soviet BMP-1, writes Army Recognition.
According to Western journalists, the Vietnamese IFV surpasses the Soviet vehicle in several parameters. Firstly, the XCB-01 is equipped with a more powerful engine (UTD-20 diesel, 300 hp), which provides mobility. It can move on land at a speed of 65 km/h, and on water — up to 7 km/h.
The XCB-01 is better armed and protected. The IFV has a 73-mm 2A28 smoothbore gun, paired with a launcher for ATGMs.
The XCB-01 communication system is more modern. It is represented by the VRU12/S radio station and the VIS satellite phone.
The crew of the Vietnamese IFV consists of a commander, a gunner, and a driver. The fighting vehicle can carry up to 8 soldiers.
