At the international defense exhibition Vietnam Defence Expo 2024 in Hanoi, the AZP air defense system, which turned out to be a modification of Soviet weapons, was presented for the first time. Vietnamese developers equipped the AZP-57 gun (known as the "hellish meat grinder") of the S-60 anti-aircraft artillery complex with an advanced radar. This is reported by Army Recognition.
AZP is equipped with radar, an electro-optical system, and a combat control system. The complex quickly detects, identifies, and neutralizes aerial threats.
According to Army Recognition, the AZP system's readiness to intercept a target from the moment it is detected is 4 seconds. The complex has several firing modes, which increases its accuracy.
AZP is designed to protect critical infrastructure.
