Орбиту МКС подняли на 2,3 километра перед запуском «Союза МС-27»

ISS orbit altitude adjustment carried out to ensure ballistic conditions

The orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) was raised by 2.3 kilometers before the launch of the manned spacecraft "Soyuz MS-27", according to a press release from Roscosmos.

The orbit altitude adjustment was carried out on December 22 at 04:10 Moscow time. The engines of the transport ship "Progress MS-28" were activated, which worked for 811.3 seconds and produced an impulse of 1.3 m/s. As a result of this maneuver, the average altitude of the ISS orbit increased by 2.3 kilometers and amounted to 416.43 kilometers above the Earth's surface.

This orbit correction was necessary to form ballistic conditions before the landing of the descent vehicle of the "Soyuz MS-26" spacecraft and the placing into orbit of the "Soyuz MS-27" spacecraft.

At the moment, this is already the 371st correction of the ISS orbit altitude since its launch.
