Currently, about 1.4 thousand robots are used in enterprises in St. Petersburg. The number of machines is planned to increase by 2030. This was announced by Alexander Sitov, Acting Chairman of the City Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade.
According to him, the city's heavy industry is focused on the production of high-tech, small-scale and even one-off products. This makes the mass use of robots difficult. However, robotization is becoming increasingly in demand in many enterprises.
Next year, the city will launch a new support program that includes subsidies for the introduction of robotic systems based on automatic and semi-automatic machine tools with numerical control (CNC). The city will cover 80% of the costs of purchasing systems of St. Petersburg production, 50% - for domestic systems and 30% - for the purchase of foreign systems.
It is expected that the introduction of robotic complexes will increase the productivity of individual processes by 2-3 times. In addition, the growth in the volume of state defense orders also serves as an additional incentive for robotization.
