Tests Begin at the First Power Unit of the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh

Rosatom: The First Stage of Reactor Plant Commissioning to Nominal Parameters Has Started

Construction and installation works have been completed at power unit No. 1 of the Rooppur NPP, which is being built by specialists from Rosatom State Corporation in Bangladesh. The station personnel have begun the testing program, the State Corporation's press service reported.

On Wednesday, December 18, the first stage of the operation to bring the reactor plant to its nominal parameters began. Nuclear scientists will check the operability of equipment and mechanisms, including the start-up of the main circulation pumps (MCPs).

The program will culminate in testing the reactor plant at nominal parameters without nuclear fuel.

According to Andrey Petrov, President of JSC ASE, the first power unit is being prepared for physical start-up. Rosatom guarantees the reliability and safety of the technologies used in the construction of nuclear power plants, he added.
