The Russian Mi-35 military helicopter is equipped with an advanced L-370 "Vitebsk" onboard defense system. The system is represented by a distributed aperture of turret sensors for detecting attacking missiles in the ultraviolet range by UV radiation from solid-propellant rocket motor plumes.
Warning systems detect the irradiation of the vehicle by detection and guidance radars of enemy SAM systems, or by active radar homing heads of missiles such as IRIS-T SLM, AIM-120B/C/D, MICA-EM, MBDA Meteor, Aster-30, and so on.
To counter the aforementioned means, the L-370 complex simulates an interference algorithm corresponding to the amplitude-frequency parameters of the enemy's radar equipment.
The "Vitebsk" also features a turreted laser-beam module for optoelectronic countermeasures against SAMs and air-to-air missiles with infrared homing heads.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a Russian "Kornet-EM" on the chassis of the "Typhoon-K" armored vehicle and an updated BMP-3 have arrived in Vietnam.
