The team of the Russian operator T2 has implemented VoLTE technology in all regions. The service was deployed in 69 regions of Russia in three months. In 22 of them, equipment of Russian production was used.
For comparison, the launch of VoLTE by other operators took 2-3 years. The first subscribers who appreciated the new voice quality in T2 were residents of Tomsk. The final region was Magadan.
For the successful implementation of VoLTE, T2 improved the voice switching system and packet network elements. This increased network performance and provided additional capacity for subscriber base growth.
The company said that more than half of T2 subscribers have now activated VoLTE technology. The share of voice traffic served by the LTE network exceeded 55%.
Note that the monthly VoLTE traffic volume is 9 billion minutes. In November, the number of such calls exceeded one billion.
