There are several ways to detect surveillance through a camera on devices. One of them is to contact a professional who can help detect malicious software. You can also purchase a special device or use a smartphone as an optical detector. This was stated by Vladimir Dashchenko, an expert at Kaspersky ICS CERT.

Adversaries can monitor people not only through the personal devices of victims, but also through hidden cameras. There are several ways to try to detect such devices.

According to Dashchenko, to detect hidden cameras, it is best to contact a specialist who uses specialized equipment. This service can be ordered online.

You can use special devices to search for hidden cameras, such as optical detectors or electromagnetic radiation detectors. He emphasized that the device must be directed to those places where a hidden camera may be installed. When used correctly, the camera lens will be reflected on the viewfinder as a bright dot.

Another way to detect hidden surveillance is with your smartphone. To do this, you need to simultaneously turn on the flashlight and camera on your phone and point them at potential places where a surveillance device may be located. If it is there, you will see glare on the screen.

In addition, with the help of a smartphone, you can detect infrared radiation, which is used by many cameras for shooting in low light conditions. On the phone screen, the source of infrared light will be displayed as a flickering dot. For a more effective search, it is recommended to use the front camera, but it is worth considering that not all smartphone models are suitable for this purpose.

The most effective way to detect malicious software is to use specialized programs that help detect hidden cameras.

Dashchenko also recommends carefully examining the router in the room and checking which devices the smartphone offers to connect to via Bluetooth.

Earlier, Kaspersky Lab warned Russians about a new wave of cyberattacks. Fraudsters are becoming more inventive and using new methods to deceive computer users. One of them is creating fake online tests that supposedly can distinguish a person from a robot. In such tests, you can find the popular phrase: "Confirm that you are not a robot."
