The raising of parts of a destroyer that sank in 1904 is planned in Primorye. We tell you more about what is happening.
Destroyer No. 208 was manufactured in 1899 at the wharves of the "New Admiralty", now known as the USC "Admiralty Wharves" plant.
The ship was one of 25 Pernov-class destroyers built for the Russian Imperial Fleet. On July 4, 1904, it was blown up by a mine in the area of Skryplev Island in the waters of Primorye.
The "Vostok" Underwater Search Club plans to raise the ship from the bottom. This was announced by Alexey Kondratyuk, head of the underwater research section of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society. According to him, the remains of the ship are rapidly collapsing and sinking into silt. In addition, the ship's condition is affected by its location in an active shipping area.
In order to preserve this important page of history, it was decided to raise the anchors and portholes for subsequent transfer to the museum
