The process of mounting 4S24 dynamic armor elements on "bare," de-preserved T-72A tanks in field conditions has surfaced online. The 902A smoke grenade launchers were removed from the turret cheeks; they can be seen on the track shelf and on the ground to the left. Additionally, 4S22 "Kontakt-5" elements have been installed for denser coverage of its side projections.
Often, smoke grenade launchers are not removed, and the ERA containers are either attached to them or behind them.
On the track shelf in front of the repairman lies an open ERA container, which is placed on the sides of the turret of the T-72B3 mod. 2016 and T-80BVM. As is known, these 4S24 complex containers were originally developed as part of the "Karkas-2" project, which involves placing ERA on BMP-3/M and other light armored vehicles.
The complex based on the 4S24 ERA provides protection against armor-piercing bullets, monoblock cumulative munitions, and also 30 mm caliber projectiles.
