The National Center for Physics and Mathematics (NCPM) plans to create the world's most powerful prototype of a hybrid electronic-photon computing system in the next two years. The device will process information at the "speed of light." This was announced by the scientific director of the NCPM, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev.
In fact, this will be a computer whose coprocessors perform calculations at the speed of light. We plan to create a working prototype of the device with an information processing speed of more than 10 to the 19th power operations per second in the next two years, significantly exceeding the current world level.
It was noted that, unlike modern computers, specialized photonic computing systems can significantly speed up problem solving — by 100-1000 times. According to the academician, the exaops (a measure of computing power equal to 10¹⁸ operations per second) level is planned to be reached by 2030.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian scientists created a 50-qubit quantum computer with qudit technology.
