Total Liquidation: Roscosmos to Sell Off Old Space Equipment

Auctions will be held to sell objects that are not of great historical value

The State Duma has adopted in the first reading amendments to the legislation of the Russian Federation, granting the Roscosmos State Corporation the right to sell old space equipment. It will be possible to sell off equipment that is not in use and is not planned for further use as intended.

The need for amendments is due to the growing demand for space technology for display as samples of Russian rocket and space technology. The sale of equipment will only be possible for the purposes of education, science and art. Property of particular historical value will remain the property of Roscosmos; it will be transferred to the country's constituent entities, cultural and educational institutions for temporary use.

According to the state corporation, separate auctions will be held for the sale of objects that "are not of great historical value".

Earlier it became known that Roscosmos may soon receive own bonds for the development of satellite construction and other space areas. The bill that will allow this is already in the State Duma, and it has been supported by the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank.
