Three quantum computers with a capacity of up to 50 qubits may be created in Russia by the end of the year

This was reported by the Rosatom State Corporation

Three different quantum computers with a capacity of 50 qubits may be created in Russia by the end of the year. This was announced by Ruslan Yunusov, Advisor to the Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation.

By the end of the year, it is planned to reach 50 qubits on the atomic platform. It is likely that another alternative computer on an ion platform with the same power will be presented.

If all goes well, Russia may have three 50-qubit quantum computers by the end of the year, or even more.

When creating quantum computers, the main attention was paid to leading platforms such as superconductors, ions, atoms, and photons. There are also other platforms, but it is not yet known which one will be the most promising.

Earlier in 2024, Russian scientists created a 50-qubit quantum computer with qudit technology. This technology on a global scale had previously been used only in Austria and the USA. At the moment, the Russian 50-qubit quantum computer is the most powerful in the country and is one of the top six world leaders with similar systems.
