The first Russian fifth-generation multirole fighter Su-57 may be of interest to at least five states. This was pointed out by Military Watch Magazine.
The journalists named Algeria first on the list. They recalled that the state has a rich history of acquiring Russian military equipment, starting with the MiG-25 in the late 1970s and ending with the receipt of Russian Pantsirs.
The second potential buyer is India. It was the first country to order fourth-generation Soviet fighters. The state also purchased the MiG-29 in the early 1980s. In 2002, it became the first state to acquire Russian generation 4+ fighters, the Su-30MKI. In total, India acquired more than 270 Su-30MKI.
Ready-made purchases of Su-57 fighters in Russia may turn out to be cost-effective, since the high costs of producing the Su-30MKI in India itself and the integration of a number of foreign technologies into them have made the cost of combat vehicles comparable to the price of new fifth-generation fighters.
The authors of the article named Vietnam as the next likely buyer, which operates a fighter fleet consisting entirely of Russian and Soviet aircraft. Its fleet, ground forces and air defense systems also largely use Russian equipment. Moreover, the long flight range will allow the Vietnamese Air Force to patrol the South China Sea.
Another country on the list of potential buyers of the Su-57 is Indonesia. It placed its first order for Su-27 fighters back in 1997.
North Korea completes the list. North Korean officials have been showing interest in acquiring modern Russian fighters for several years, and in September 2023 they inspected facilities at the plant where these aircraft are produced.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that an expert found a radical solution to the problem of the shortage of AWACS aircraft for the Russian Aerospace Forces, he proposed reviving the Yak-44.
