In St. Petersburg, employees of the Baltic Shipyard (part of USC) used a floating crane and special equipment to hoist the propulsion electric motor (PEM) of the port side onto the under-construction "Chukotka" nuclear icebreaker (Project 22220). This was reported by the corporation's press service.
The "Chukotka" will be fitted with 3 propulsion electric motors: 2 on the port side and 1 central. Each of them has a capacity of 20 MW. The vessel is currently being completed afloat.
The fourth serial icebreaker of Project 22220 was launched on November 6. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony. The "Chukotka" is preparing for mooring trials.
