The American portal 38North has published a picture taken by a tourist at Sunan Airport in Pyongyang. It shows a Russian heavy military transport aircraft Il-76, which, according to Western media, is part of the North Korean Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft project.
The person who took the picture was about half a kilometer away from the Il-76. However, the photo shows that some kind of structure is installed on the aircraft. It looks like a radar pedestal used in AWACS aircraft.
According to 38North, it is difficult to say how close the current version of the military transport aircraft is to completion.
