"Orion" for "Strelets": The lead ship of the new Russian project 1701 has passed tests

The fishing freezer trawler with a capacity of about 70 tons will start operating by 2025

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping has issued a set of ship documents to the trawler "Orion". This medium-sized fishing freezer trawler is the lead vessel of Project 1701.

The vessel for bottom and pelagic fishing (cod, haddock, saithe, halibut, wolffish, flounder, and perch) was built at the Otradnoye shipyard in the Leningrad region by order of the Murmansk company "Strelets".

"Orion", like other future vessels of Project 1701, received:

  • length — 61.04 m;
  • width — 14 m;
  • board height — 8.85 m;
  • unlimited navigation area;
  • modern trawling equipment and high-tech equipment for processing and freezing the catch on board the vessel;
  • fish factory capacity — about 70 tons of frozen products;
  • gross tonnage – 2342 units;
  • crew, including personnel of the fish processing complex — 40 people. 

It is noted that the trawler "Orion" has successfully passed a complex of sea and mooring trials.
