Now, residents of Yekaterinburg can pay for travel using facial recognition if they connect the biometrics function in the "SberBank Online" application. To do this, you need to activate the option through a virtual assistant by saying the command "Pay with a smile." Until the end of the year, Sber will offer passengers 100% cashback in "Spasibo" bonuses for 10 trips between November 11 and December 31, 2024.

In addition, in the future, biometric payment will become available to cardholders and clients of other Russian banks, starting in December 2024.

By the end of the year, biometric terminals will appear on all turnstiles of the Nizhny Novgorod metro, and in 2024 a pilot project will start in Samara.

Dmitry Malykh, Senior Vice President of Sberbank, noted that this technology is becoming a common payment method that is already used in supermarkets, cafes and gas stations, and is now expanding to pay for travel in the metro.
