Global warming in Russia: temperature is rising faster than global rates

According to the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand, the temperature in Russia is rising faster than in the tropics and northern latitudes

The process of global warming in Russia is happening much faster than the global average, said the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand. According to him, in the temperate latitudes of Eurasia, warming occurs 2.5 times faster than in the tropics, and in the northern latitudes - 3.5 times faster. This emphasizes the features of climate change in different regions of the planet.

Every year the temperature on Earth rises, and each five-year period becomes warmer than the previous one, despite possible short-term fluctuations. Over the past ten years, the average annual temperature in Russia has increased by 0.5°C, and in the Arctic zone - by 0.7°C. According to forecasts, an increase in the average temperature in Russia by 1°C is possible by 2040.

Global warming is observed all over the planet: in the world, the temperature has increased by 0.26°C over the past decade. Opinions of scientists differ, but many talk about the onset of a "critical decade" due to the accelerating rate of temperature growth.
