The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ), a military-industrial holding, has developed a centrifugal pump for cooling diesel generators, the holding's press service reported.
The development belongs to the specialists of SKB-1 (part of KMZ). The pump will be installed on diesel engines that serve as a backup power source for nuclear power plants.
The pump shaft has two bearing supports, between which a spacer sleeve is installed. Lubrication is carried out with oil, which is sprayed by the unit's gears.
The pump starts rotating from the lower crankshaft of the engine through a gear transmission. It pumps water through the first circuit of the cooling system. The equipment's capacity is 130 m3/h. Its body, frame, and suction head are made of cast iron, and the impeller is made of bronze.
