Mesyatsev Island has disappeared in Franz Josef Land. This was recorded on space images by students of the interregional project group "RISKSAT."
In the area of Eva-Liv Island of the Franz Josef Land archipelago in the Arctic, an ice formation that was previously called "Mesyatsev Island" has disappeared. Now the island has completely melted, which requires correction of navigation charts.
Mesyatsev Island was formed from the peninsula of the same name as a result of glacier melting before 1995. The object has been observed for several years. Satellite images allowed students to study information processing technologies for project research in ecology, nature protection and emergency situations.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia denied NATO accusations of concealing climate data about the Arctic.
