Russia will create a new ship with 20 Kalibr cruise missiles on board, according to Renat Mistakhov, General Director of JSC " судостроительная корпорация «Ак Барс» ("Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation").
According to him, this refers to Project 21635.1 "Sarsar". These are lengthened Buyan-M small missile ships (MRK) that carry eight cruise missiles on board.
It already incorporates an element to increase the number of Kalibrs. If we previously carried eight Kalibrs, here it is proposed to carry 16, or even up to 20. This is a continuation of Project 21631, "Bolshoy Buyan". It already has a displacement of one and a half thousand tons. We simply stretched it and supplemented it.
The head of the corporation noted that the ships of the "Sarsar" project, in addition to "Kalibrs", will be armed with updated air defense systems, missile systems, and new artillery pieces.
