Kurchatov Nuclear Power Plant restarts Unit 4

Its scheduled maintenance is complete

Unit 4 has fully resumed operation at the Kurchatov Nuclear Power Plant after its maintenance. It was completed faster than promised. The plan was 59 days, but it was completed in 52.

How the power unit was modernized: the key reactor systems were improved and the reliability of the equipment was increased. More than two thousand specialists were involved in the work.

Deputy Chief Engineer for Repair Sergey Zyskin noted that everything was planned in such a way that the engineers were able to complete the repair ahead of schedule.

It should be reminded that the Kurchatov Nuclear Power Plant was commissioned in 1976 and consists of four power units operating on VVER-440 reactors. The total installed capacity of the station is about 2,500 MW. The Kurchatov Nuclear Power Plant plays an important role in providing electricity to the Central Chernozem region and neighboring regions.
