Russian military personnel have practiced striking a low-observable strategic cruise missile 3M14T "Kalibr-NK" against a coastal target of a mock enemy at a distance of 1300 km. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev explained the unique characteristics of the ammunition.
According to him, operators of the universal shipborne firing missile system UKSK, located on the multi-purpose frigate of the 1st rank "Admiral Kasatonov" of project 22350, took part in the exercise. The exercise was carried out in the Barents Sea.
The 3M14T missile, which has maximum design kinship with the low-observable cruise missile 9M728 (R-800) of the 9K720 "Iskander-K" complex, boasts an in-hull configuration for the placement of the turbofan engine nacelle, which makes its infrared and radar signatures significantly smaller than those of missiles such as the Kh-555.
Earlier, Rostec announced the invulnerability of the "Product 305" missile to the enemy's electronic warfare systems at the front. It always flies exactly where the helicopter carrier crew directs it.
