ISS News: Progress on Schedule, Crew-8 Return to Earth with Cosmonaut Grebenkin Delayed

The undocking of the Progress MS-27 cargo ship from the ISS will take place in November, but preparations are already underway

According to Roscosmos State Corporation, the undocking of the Progress MS-27 cargo spacecraft from the ISS is scheduled for November 19, 2024. For four days now, the cosmonauts have been packing equipment into it that has served its purpose on the station.

Also in permanent readiness for undocking is the international mission Crew-8 — Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin and NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, and Jeanette Epps. Due to bad weather conditions, their undocking from the ISS and splashdown off the coast of the American state of Florida has already been postponed several times. The new preliminary undocking date is set for October 16.

Mission managers continue to monitor weather conditions in the splashdown areas off the coast of Florida ahead of the return of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 mission from the International Space Station. Current forecasts indicate unfavorable conditions for the next several days. The next weather briefing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, October 16. If weather improves, NASA and SpaceX are targeting no earlier than 3:05 a.m. EDT on Friday, October 18, for undocking from the space station.
