Military Expert Damantsev: Russia Will Need to Reconfigure Air Defense and Missile Defense to Repel AGM-158A JASSM Missiles

The Russian Armed Forces need to quickly optimize the low-altitude radar contour of the positional areas of missile and air defense to likely repel an attack by multi-purpose, low-observable tactical missiles AGM-158A JASSM. This opinion was expressed by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.

S-400 «Triumph» SAM system

He noted that the enemy could receive more than 300 such missiles with a range of 370 km with an ultra-low-altitude flight profile — up to 30 meters, as well as the ability to overcome from 15 to 20 m of soil and 2 m of reinforced concrete.

Each rear battery of the S-400 air defense system should be equipped with a 38.8-meter universal tower 40V6MD for placing 92N6 illumination radars. This will ensure that the low-altitude sections of airspace above forests, valleys, and bends in the terrain in central Russia are covered by observation sectors.
Evgeny Damantsev, military expert

He added that S-400 batteries with 92N6 radars should be equidistant from each other on the ground with a priority deployment distance of about 50-70 km from each other.

S-400 divisions should be equipped with an additional modification of the 5P85SM2-01 launchers, equipped with guides for highly maneuverable 9M96DM anti-aircraft missiles with gas-dynamic engines for transverse control and active radar seekers, Damantsev believes.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the carrier of «Caliber» and «Onyx» frigates «Admiral Golovko» destroyed cruise missiles and drones of the «enemy» over the Barents Sea.
