К 2030 году на развитие быстрого интернета в России выделят почти 287 миллиардов рублей

Russia Plans to Provide 97% of Households with High-Speed Internet

Nearly 287 billion rubles are planned to be spent on the development of high-speed home internet in major cities and administrative centers of Russia by 2030. This follows from the preliminary version of the federal project "Internet Access Infrastructure".

The estimated budget expenditures for this project may amount to about 9 billion rubles, while 278 billion are planned to be attracted from extra-budgetary sources. Currently, the average speed of broadband fixed internet in apartment buildings is almost 12 times lower than what is planned to be achieved according to the project. The modernization of wired networks is necessary due to the growing interest in online video and the increasing number of smart devices, which creates an increasing load on existing networks.

By 2030, residents of apartment buildings in cities with a population of more than 100 thousand people and administrative centers of regions should have the opportunity to connect to fixed broadband internet access at a speed of 1 Gbps. The total budget for connecting Russians to a high-speed network is estimated at almost 287 billion rubles, of which 9 billion are planned to be attracted from the federal budget, and about 278 billion from extra-budgetary sources. These funds will be directed to equipment, software, as well as to works and services for connection.

The development of fixed networks, along with the creation of a satellite communication system for high-speed access and the modernization of mobile networks, should lead to the fact that up to 97% of households will be provided with high-speed internet by 2030, and up to 99% by 2036. However, the document is still under interdepartmental approval and may be revised, which makes it premature to talk about the final figures. Financial support measures for telecom operators are an important part of the development of the telecom industry and the introduction of new generation networks.
