The installation of the internal containment structure has begun at the second power unit of the El Dabaa NPP, which is being built in the city of the same name in Egypt. This was announced by the state corporation Rosatom.
The protective shell consists of 6 tiers. The first tier contains 12 blocks, which are manufactured at the production base of the nuclear facility. The weight of each block varies from 60 to 80 tons. The blocks are erected by a heavy crane with a lifting capacity of 1350 tons.
According to Alexey Kononenko, Vice President of ASE, specialists have moved on to a new stage of work on the second power unit.
The construction of the containment of the reactor building is a laborious process, the result of which will be the safe operation of the future nuclear power plant.
